I bought a cheap indoor/outdoor carpet at Home Depot - a 12\' x 13\' chunk of "Elevations Sky Gray Carpet" cost a whopping $45 plus tax. It really looked about as good as anything else I could have used, and I preferred the construction, which didn\'t have a stiff backing (that would have made forming it over some of the bumps more difficult). Best of all, it is simple to clean and will resist stains from things that would NEVER come out of "nicer carpet". I roughed out the opening using the old cockpit carpeting as a template, and cut the engine hatch opening to size, leaving a 1-1/2" flap to fold over, securing it with spray adhesive.
