Drilling Oversize Hole for Heli-Coil Thread Repair
This threaded hole can take quite a beating in that it is often way over-torqued. In this case it was stripped. (Which was only evident after I had finished repairing the alternator and began to install it. The threads pulled out)
The first step for repairing with a Heli-Coil is drilling the hole to the specified oversize.
Be Careful!! Only drill out the case. Going deeper may do damage to the interior of the alternator.
