OLD PVC Tube fitting is on the wrong side and pointed in the wrong direction.

Note that it is on the filtered air side. When I changed the Intake Manifold to an Edelbrock aluminum performer, I also purchased a used Edelbrock finned air cleaner that I thought was kind of sexy!! The original air cleaner would not fit because the carburetor was now higher. I had to ensure the new air cleaner fit and found I needed to raise it to clear the accelerator pump and linkages. I also had to move the PVC Tube fitting to a better spot and improve the angle. While the air cleaner was in fact sexy, I did not like the intake noise that it transmitted.
