Our Dometic RM763 crapped out on our first trip this summer. I used to work for Dometic, so I learned about absorption type refrigerators. I learned even more as a user of one of these.
I decided I was done with absorption refrigerators because of their high cost and expensive repairs. We have a large battery and a 2000 watt inverter, and we seldom dry camp, so I decided to go to a house type unit. The cost was $267, which included a 2 year extended warranty. This is over $100 less than what it would cost to just repair the Dometic, and less than 1/4th the cost of a new unit.
