Dave Stilley, from near Lampassas, Texas, spent a ton of money over a couple of years renovating his 76 Eleganza II. He regularly read the GMCnet and Classics email lists. After reading time after time after seemingly every rally about folks breaking down, he got worried about it happening to him in his 30 year old motorhome. He had a brand new Ford F350 diesel truck and regularly pulled gooseneck stock trailers all over the country in pursuit of his wife's (Marsha) barrel racing career. He decided to take advantage of what he had and was used to. He converted his GMC into a gooseneck trailer!

He said that it wasn't really that hard at all. He also replaced the bogies with rubber torsion sprung axles and it rode very well. Hitch weight is only 1200#. The "house" portion of the GMC remains as it was with the exception for the front TV shelf where the cockpit seats have been removed. New paint is coming up very soon.
