From the outside, the new light is put in place and new wires are routed thought the original hole. I used butyl tape to seal the hole, from both inside and outside. The previously lengthened hole in the gasket allows the wire to fit better. When I decided to leave the original gasket in place there was even more room and better sealing I felt.
