Old and new Master Cylinder photo's for 1973 GMC taken during replacement 2012
Queries: Why is there a bolt/nut in the old front MC fluid reservoir shown here, but not in the replacement? Do I need to take it out and put it in the new one?

Comments
The Bolt is a pin used to keep the front piston in place. Once assembled, Hydraulic pressure really keeps the piston in place. The bolt is not included in a replacement cylinder because they do not feel it was needed. However: during a rear system failure, the hydraulic plug fails and the front piston can move further back in the cylinder.
