The new evaportator sits back from the engine hatch about 3 inches so there is no interference. This unit is a Danhard 460 R which means the connections are on the right side (pass). It is 18,000 BTU with a 340 CFM 3 speed blowers. Puts out lots of air. Danhard makes a bunch of different configurations. You can download their pdf catalog from www.danhard.com. While there were a number of internet sites selling other types of evaporator units the Danhard was the only 36 row unit that I found. The grill enclosure is mahogany that I built and then painted with SEM. The grill is 1/2" egg crate plastic like they use in overhead flourescent fixtures. You can't see it but there are also 2 x 2" holes on each side of the plenum that sticks into the cab to allow more air back in. This is really a major improvement in both coldness and airflow. This is A/C only the heater unit (that I have not installed yet is totally separate, again a Danhard and will be mounted above this unit in the engine compartment. The heater control will go where the existing heater controls are now in the dash. Danhard does make a combined heater AC just ike this one but the BTU on the cold side was only 13,000. Where we live heat is not as important as cold.
