I have converted her to a flex fan from the clutch fan and I would recommend this to anyone. I have noticed great- thoughtful, highly analytical discussion about clutch fans on these sites and I have to think that some people have far too much time on their hands. A friend cooked his coach with a "new" fan clutch (probably one that was designed to spin in the opposite direction than our coaches). I never worry about wether the clutch is engaging or heat soak at idle etc. Clutch fans are best donated to an artificial reef somewhere, they should have never been installed on these heavy weight coaches. I also installed a remote trans cooler and ran new steel lines straight out the left side of the transmission to the cooler, eliminating five 90 degree bends and the "unbelievable" direct contact with the left exhaust manifold of the original transmission oil (preheater) lines. I also changed the electro level II and installed dual air gauges, one for each bag. A rebuild of the carb with larger jets and the air compressor has been moved up 15 feet closer to the batteries behind the driver. Only 70 thousand miles since new. The interior is original and I am in the process of installing a different flooring material than the hideous orange carpet. This coach has been the most dependable vehicle I have owned. Starts every time and everything works. Next I would love to convert to a single roof air/heat pump and get rid of three hundred pounds of ugly antique roof mount units. The Onan works fine after all these years. Although I do have to jumper the circuit board to start it. I don't mind a bit.
