Landau top padding is used for HVAC insulation in the defrost duct.
The forward dash recess is lined with 1/8" landau top foam for HVAC insulation. The 3-1/2"x11" hole in the center is where mixed air rises to be routed to either defrost or dash outlets. The start of my deflector door is visible also. I plan to use basically the original duct design, but improved and in non-distorting aluminum.
