Cotter keys make easy linkages and eyelets.
This just shows how convenient cotter keys are for attaching springs and linkages. Simply drilling a 1/8" hole and installing a cotter pin beats fabricating operating arms, etc. The trivial amount of leakage around them is not a concern.
