Hardie Johnson has pointed out that when doing this it is a good idea to insert a piece of plastic between the finish and the clamp so that the glue will not bond to the clamp. I\'ve also considered wiping down the finish with something like Vasoline so that any squeezed out glue wouldn\'t stick to the finish.
