I decided to forgo the use of a header gasket. Instead I cleaned the header flanges and heads real good and used Loc-Tite RTV 5920 high temp copper applied liberally to both surfaces. I did not have the headers connected at the collector end so they are free to move and mate flat to the heads. I partially torqued the bolts and let it set for a couple days. Then I fully torqued all but the upper bolt. I waited a few More days for the RTV to set before trying to start it.
