The vent can also be closed off. The choke knob to the left of the vent controls the lower damper. This allows me to do several things. If I close the vent and the lower damper all the hot air will go to the bath. With the lower damper closed and the vent open I now have heat to the bedroom and bath. If I am driving and it is very cold and I am driving I can close the top vent and open the lower damper letting the heat go to the bath and the water tank compartment.
