Only had to trim off an insignificant amount of rubber.
Only about 1/8" of rubber had to be removed to allow the aluminum to slip under the windshield seal all the way to the flange. I created a little clearance with a pry bar but was afraid of cracking the windshield. Replacing the windshield will not be complicated by this mod.
