FRP is better than cardboard for making templates.
This is an FRP template for the aluminum forward dash top; it was made from a rough cardboard one. The aluminum panel will rest on the horizontal flange beneath the windshield, all the way forward against the vertical flange. Screws through an aluminum riser angle at the vertical firewall will secure it.
